When Rev. Michael J. McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus, he wanted to name it after the Catholic who had a vision, and achieved it.
When Father McGivney established Council # One in 1882, he named it San Salvador Council in honor of the island which Columbus himself named and claimed for King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella in Spain.
